Hillary Clinton Fights for Women’s Rights

Unfortunately for us all, it still takes a woman to prioritize what women need.  When it comes to women’s health, our savior comes in the form of Hillary Clinton.

In recent news, Planned Parenthood has been accused of selling fetus body parts for profit – an action that is illegal and has only refueled the debate on abortion.  As our presidential candidates for the upcoming election prepare to fight for the title, a recent match has been set between Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush over women’s rights.

At an evangelical conference on August 4, 2015, former two-term Florida governor Jeb Bush expressed that he did not believe that 1/2 billion funds were needed to fund organizations like Planned Parenthood, which he believed performed illegal and inhumane surgeries in their clinics.

Hillary Clinton came out with her claws and referred to Jeb Bush’s words as proof that the Republican party is the wrong party to govern the United States.

The former Secretary of State responded at an event at Denver later that night that Jeb Bush’s remarks represents the entirety of the Republican party and support for any candidate of this party is an attack on gender equality.  Hillary Clinton and her campaign team point out that time and time again the Republican party has been willing to spend billions on extremely wealthy and powerful corporations but yet can’t seem to support over half of our population – women.  The presidential candidate went to Twitter to continue the political debate.

Jeb Bush defended his position by tweeting back that he did not support practices of abortion.

Jeb Bush’s stance represents the Republican Party’s efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, especially in the wake of the undercover videos.

Though many, including Hillary Clinton herself, have agreed that those videos were “disturbing,” that has not waved Clinton’s support towards Parenthood.

“This really isn’t complicated,” Clinton said.  “When you attack Planned Parenthood, you attack women’s health.  When you attack women’s health, you attack America’s health.  The truth is, what Jeb said the other Republican candidates believe too and that’s not the only example of them being out of touch and out of date.”

This is only the beginning of the debates we need to hear more from.  One thing we know is that no one is holding back and thanks to social media, we’re right at the center of it.
